Hey, it’s Lola
I wanted to share something important, and a little frustrating, that’s been happening recently.
Over the past week, someone has been impersonating me on the Wix Marketplace, reaching out to people and pretending to be “Hey! It’s Lola.”Several of my clients have already received messages like this, which has caused confusion, and understandably so.
If you’ve received a strange email, message, or proposal claiming to be from me, please don’t click on any links or reply, it’s not me.
This type of scam is called a Wix phishing scam, where someone pretends to be a trusted person or business to steal sensitive information or payments. Unfortunately, phishing scams like this are becoming more common, so it’s essential to know how to protect yourself.
How to Spot a Wix Phishing Scam
Here are a few red flags that can help you identify a Wix phishing scam:
Suspicious sender details: The email address might look slightly “off”, extra letters, numbers, or strange domains.
Unusual requests: Any message asking for login info, credit card details, or verification codes is likely a scam.
Urgent or threatening tone: Phrases like “Your account will be deactivated” or “Immediate action required” are common phishing tactics.
Strange links: Hover over links before clicking to see where they really lead, if it doesn’t go to wix.com, it’s not legitimate.
Generic language: Scammers rarely use your name, and often send vague or poorly written messages.
It doesn’t sound like me: You know my tone, warm, chatty, and real. I will never send robotic or pushy emails.
Steps to Report a Wix Phishing Scam
If you ever receive a suspicious email or message claiming to be me or another trusted professional:
Do not click links or reply.
Forward the message to me at hey@heyitslola.com for verification.
Report it directly to Wix at reportphishing@wix.com.
If you’ve clicked a link by accident, change your password immediately and enable two-step verification on your account.
Extra Tips to Protect Yourself from a Wix Phishing Scam
Because I work with service-based businesses, creatives, and therapists, I always recommend these extra safety steps:
Use strong, unique passwords for every account.
Turn on two-step verification for Wix and email accounts.
Never share your login credentials, instead, use Wix’s Collaborator access.
Add CAPTCHA or spam filters to your website forms.
Bookmark the official Wix guide on phishing for quick reference.
A Personal Note
I know this can be unsettling, especially when scammers use someone’s real name or business identity. Please know I’m doing everything I can to stop this, and I’ll always communicate through official channels only, my website, verified email, or Wix Marketplace profile.
Your vigilance matters. Every time you double-check a suspicious email or message, you’re helping protect not just me, but the wider creative and small business community.
Stay savvy, stay safe, and keep shining online
